Delta communities are terrified of herdsmen attacks

Residents of communities in Ethiope East and Egini community in Udu Local Government Areas of Delta State are in a panic because they fear that suspected Fulani herdsmen may attack their communities.

Due to the threat of Fulani herdsmen kidnapping on the route, commercial cars no longer go from Abraka to Warri or Sapele after 5 p.m.

Diri: Kidnapped ex-commissioner will be released

Governor of Bayelsa State has warned kidnappers of a former Commissioner for Special Duties (Federal Projects) in the state that they would face the wrath of the law, while assuring that the state government was working to free the former commissioner.

During a state security council meeting in Yenagoa, the Governor condemned the kidnapping of the former commissioner and reaffirmed his administration’s zero tolerance for crime and criminality.

In Bayelsa, gunmen assassinate a pipeline surveillance worker

In Bayelsa State, a three-member gang suspected of being assassins attacked and killed an official of an indigenous pipeline surveillance firm.

Sources claim that the assassins entered the hotel and paid for three rooms where they hid before attacking their target. They were waiting for their victim, who had left for a job, to return while sipping beer at the hotel bar. 

When the victim arrived at the hotel around 7.45 p.m., the gunmen rushed towards him and shot him twice in the chest and lower abdomen, leaving him for dead.

In Kwara, a communal clash claims a life

The police command in Kwara State has confirmed the arrest of six suspects in connection with the bloody communal clash between the Iwo and Odo-Ekun communities in the state’s Isin Local Government Area.

A spokesman for the State Police Command confirmed the development, saying that officers were on the ground to ensure that law and order had been restored in the conflicting communities.

An unnamed farmer died as a result of communal fighting, while one other individual suffered critical injuries.

Road crash claims 7 lives, 13 others injured in Yobe

In Yobe State, a fatal traffic accident claimed the lives of seven commuters and injured thirteen more people to varied degrees.

The incident, which occurred on the Buni Gari-Gulani highway, was said to be the result of excessive speeding and dangerous overtaking.

According to the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, who confirmed the incident, the agency mobilized its personnel to the scene after receiving a distress call about the incident, where the victims were evacuated to hospital.

Tanker catches fire on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

A tanker carrying diesel caught fire near the Warewa axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun State.

The FRSC spokesperson in Ogun State confirmed that one man was injured in the crash, but no one died.

The Ogun State FRSC spokesperson blamed the accident on mechanical failure, adding that the injured victim was driven to the hospital.

In Ilorin, a NOUN student was killed by suspected cultists

On Tuesday, a 23-year-old Computer Science student at the National Open University in Ilorin was killed by suspected cultists in the Kwara state capital.

According to the police report, around 1630hrs, some boys suspected of being cultists went to a house in Ilorin’s Akerebiata area, attacked and shot a 23-year-old computer science student at the Open University Ilorin in the chest.

In a statement issued in Ilorin on Tuesday, a spokesman for the state police command said, Policemen from ‘C’ Division who raced to the scene on receipt of the information, took the victim to UITH, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor.

Aregbesola: Terrorist attacks will be completely eliminated

Minister of Interior, has assured Nigerians that the Federal Government is prepared to combat and completely eliminate terrorists responsible for attacks across the country.

The Minister of Interior said this while describing the attack on the Kuje detention center and other similar attacks in Nigeria as a “result” of the Federal Government’s success in combating terrorism.

This was stated by the minister during a tour of correctional facilities in Lagos State on Tuesday.

Many feared dead as building collapses in Lagos

Early on Wednesday, many people were reportedly believed to be dead after a building in Lagos State’s Onipanu neighbourhood apparently collapsed.

A source in the area who requested anonymity confirmed the incident, adding that the building is near a rail line.

According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 1.07 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, said on Tuesday that no individual, government, or ethnic group is capable of islamizing or converting Nigeria into a Fulani colony, and that people, governments, and some ethnic groups attempting to do so through various means and tricks will fail.

According to IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, “No religion can consume the other, Nigerians can never be all Muslims,” since the inception of the President Mohammadu Buhari led All Progressive Congress, APC, Federal Government of Nigeria, they have used all sorts of tricks, intimidation, harassment, and policies to achieve their Islamization plans, but have not succeeded, and IPOB will never succumb or allow them to succeed.

In Edo, police kill a gunman and apprehend robbers

The Edo State Police Command said on Tuesday that while responding to a distress call from residents of Abuja Quarters, Government Reserved Area, Benin, it killed a notorious robber and recovered arms.

One pump-action gun and five live cartridges were recovered from the suspect, and efforts to apprehend the fleeing gang members are ongoing.

Police in Nasarawa arrest three robbery suspects

The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended three suspected armed robbers who were disturbing the peace of residents in the state’s Karu Local Government Area.

The disclosure was made by the Police Public Relations Officer in a press statement made available to journalists in Lafia on Tuesday.

COVID-19 Safety Measures

  1. Use of non-physical greetings.
  2. Maintain at least 2 meters (6 feet) of physical distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  3. Stay home if you feel unwell with symptoms like fever, NCDC’s 24/7 toll-free number is 0800 970 000 0010. Do not self-medicate.
  4. Persons with a persistent cough or sneezing should stay home until they recover.
  5. Avoid crowded spaces such as open markets, crowded supermarkets and pharmacies.
  6. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or use an alcohol-based sanitiser if no water and soap are available.

On May 26th, 2022, a monkeypox National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) was activated by the government of Nigeria in response to the risk assessment conducted, which put Nigeria at high risk for a Monkeypox outbreak.
