In Adamawa, police apprehend 42 criminal suspects

The Zone 3 Police Command, which oversees Adamawa and Taraba States, has apprehended 42 criminal suspects in Adamawa State.

The suspects, mostly young men known as Shila Boys in Adamawa, were apprehended with forged iron tools used for housebreaking and illegal drugs such as tramadol, Indian hemp, and bottles containing liquids known locally as Suck and Die, among other things.

Borno confirms monkeypox outbreak in Maiduguri

Borno State has declared a Monkeypox outbreak, with three of four suspected samples sent to the National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, testing positive.

Two of the cases were reported from the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, UMTH, where they are currently receiving treatment, while the other patient was reported from Biu local government area in southern Borno, the Director of Public Health at the Ministry of Health told journalists yesterday.

Aero Contractors suspend passenger flight operations

On Wednesday, Aero Contractors Company Nig. Ltd. will suspend passenger services.

According to a statement issued on Monday, the decision was made in response to the impact of the challenging environment on daily operations.

Aero stated that the majority of its aircraft were undergoing maintenance, making it impossible to provide efficient service to customers.

Suspected political thugs attack Osun commissioner’s house

The Osun Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning’s residence was attacked on Monday.

According to available information, hoodlums suspected of being political thugs attacked Erinmo Ijesa town and vandalized his properties and many cars.

Several of the Commissioner’s aides were also reported to have been injured while attempting to repel the attackers.

Herdsmen kidnap 15 people in Enugu

Yesterday, suspected herdsmen attacked the Mgbuji community in Enugu State’s Eha-Ehamufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, and kidnapped at least 15 people.

The victims were kidnapped around 7 a.m. on the Mgbuji-Agu road on their way to their farms.

According to a police spokesman in Enugu, the command has yet to receive definitive information about the incident.

Police in Niger detain 10 people for thuggery, unrest, and culpable homicide

Ten notorious suspects, including a female, have been paraded by the Niger State Police command in connection with alleged thuggery and youth unrest in Minna, the State capital.

The arrest, according to the State Police Public Relations Officer, was a result of the command’s ongoing campaign against thuggery, youth unrest, and disruption of public tranquility in Minna metropolis and its surroundings.

Ohanaeze: Ebubeabu killings in Imo and Enugu are deplorable

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, the youth arm of the leading Igbo socio-cultural organization, has strongly denounced the alleged murder of seven wedding guests in Imo State by the security firm Ebubeagu.

According to reports, the heinous incident happened on Sunday when the victims were traveling from Awomama in the neighboring Oru West LGA back to their community in Otulu, Oru East LGA, when the security personnel opened fire on them.

The event was confirmed by the Imo State Police Command and the President General of the Otulu community.

Suspected criminals arrested by police in Ebonyi

Five suspected criminals were arrested on Monday by the Ebonyi State Police Command for alleged conspiracy, theft, and vandalism of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, armoured cables in the state.

It was discovered that the suspected criminals, who are from the Inyimagu Amuzu community in the LGAs of Ezza South and Izzi, specialize in vandalizing and stealing EEDC armoured cables and other electrical installations.

This information was released to the press on Monday in Abakaliki by the Police Public Relations Officer and signed by the Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command.

Communities in Taraba decry government neglect

Over 70,000 people have been displaced as a result of the ongoing killings in Taraba State’s southern region.

The Worldwide President of the Kuteb ethnic group, who confirmed the number of displaced people, lamented the death of over forty of his people.

He disclosed that the killings started three months ago when fleeing bandits from other parts of the country came to kpmpo-puri in Donga/Takum along the Cameroon border.

FG prepares countermeasures against bandit attacks on schools

The Federal Government of Nigeria will implement some concrete measures to stop bandits’ ongoing attacks on civilian targets, particularly schools.

The temporary elimination of boarding schools in rural areas, the development of a dedicated security unit for schools, and the integration of security studies into our institutions’ curricula are some of the initiatives.

Zamfara bandit leader wanted by police 

The Zamfara State Police Command declared a notorious bandit leader, who was conferred with the title of Sarkin Fulani by the Emir of Yandoto on Saturday in the state, wanted for alleged criminal activities including the killing of at least 100 villagers, wanted yesterday.

The state government had suspended the Emir of Yandoton Daji for bestowing a traditional title on the wanted terrorist kingpin.

Bauchi govt is battle ready for criminals – Gov Mohammed

On Monday, the governor of Bauchi State declared that his government was prepared to fight against bandits, kidnappers, and any other criminal activity in the state.

The Governor made this statement while visiting the ex-family governors in Boto village, Tafawa Balewa Local Government area of the state, to express his condolences.

According to reports, the former governor’s family members were recently kidnapped, killing a 25-year-old male in the process.

Bandits assassinate a 7-year-old child in Abuja and kidnap ten residents

A seven-year-old boy was killed when bandits attacked the Paikon Basa community in Abuja’s Gurdi ward of the Abaji Area Council.

According to a resident, bandits wielding sophisticated weapons stormed the neighbourhood on Friday night. Aside from the child, he said, a man and his wife were also hit by stray bullets. He also claimed that the bandits kidnapped four residents and raided some stores, stealing food.

The incident was confirmed by Gulida’s district head.

COVID-19

  • From 14th to 15th July 2022, 73 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria as stated on the official website of NCDC.

  • Till date, 259007 cases have been confirmed, 250485 cases have been discharged and 3,144 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory

  • The 73 new cases are reported from 4 States- Rivers (38), FCT (21), Bayelsa (13) and Kaduna (1)

 

COVID-19 Safety Measures

  1. Use of non-physical greetings.
  2. Maintain at least 2 meters (6 feet) of physical distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  3. Stay home if you feel unwell with symptoms like fever, NCDC’s 24/7 toll-free number is 0800 970 000 0010. Do not self-medicate.
  4. Persons with a persistent cough or sneezing should stay home until they recover.
  5. Avoid crowded spaces such as open markets, crowded supermarkets and pharmacies.
  6. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or use an alcohol-based sanitiser if no water and soap are available.

Monkeypox

Monkeypox is a rare but potentially serious disease that is caused by infection with the monkeypox virus. Monkeypox is endemic in Nigeria

On May 26th, 2022, a monkeypox National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) was activated by the government of Nigeria in response to the risk assessment conducted, which put Nigeria at high risk for a Monkeypox outbreak.
