Terrorists attack presidential guards in Abuja

Following the terrorist ambush of a Joint Patrol team made up of troops from 7 Guards Battalion and 176 Guards Brigade during a patrol along the Bwari-Kubwa road on Sunday, which
resulted in the death of an Army Captain, military sources have confirmed that a Lieutenant and five soldiers are still missing in action.

According to sources, those injured in the ambush were being treated at a military medical facility in Abuja, and efforts are currently underway to locate and rescue the missing
officer.

Terrorists ambushed troops attached to the Presidential Guards Brigade as they patrolled in the Bwari area on Monday, as a result of intelligence that the Nigeria Law School in
Bwari could be attacked.

FG – No immediate solution to aviation crisis

The Federal Government declared on Tuesday that there are no immediate solutions to the current crisis rocking Nigeria’s aviation sector because the root cause of the major challenge
in the industry is a global issue.

Although the government stated that it was working to address the issues, it also stated that it could not predict when the solutions to the crisis would be available.

The increase in the price of aviation fuel, popularly known as JetA1, has presented a significant challenge to domestic airlines in Nigeria.

Police in Kogi debunk a bomb explosion

The Kogi State Police Command has denied reports that a bomb exploded in Lokoja on Tuesday.

During a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State described the alleged bomb explosion as a hoax. He explained that after being informed
of the development, the Command quickly dispatched the bomb disposal unit to the area to determine the truth of the matter.

He told journalists that the Command’s bomb disposal unit confirmed it was a hoax.

In Ogun, gunmen attack police officers

Gunmen suspected of being members of the Aiye cult terrorizing various parts of Abeokuta have attacked police officers in the Ogun State capital.

The attack, which resulted in a gun battle between the suspected cultists and the police, occurred when the cops attempted to arrest one of them in the Abeokuta neighbourhood of
Lafenwa.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer revealed on Tuesday that the cultist was on the command’s wanted list for allegedly killing five people.

Following reports of attacks in several sections of the city, the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) announced on Tuesday that it has sent more of its personnel to the Federal Capital
Territory (FCT), Abuja.

A statement from a Force spokesperson was obtained by reporters.

His statement comes amid reports of attacks and widespread fear among residents of further terrorist attacks in the capital city.

Insecurity: Amotekun receives motorcycles from Ondo Rep

As part of his contribution to helping the state combat insecurity, a member of the Federal House of Representatives donated 20 motorcycles to the Ondo State Security Network Agency,
also known as Amotekun.

The federal lawmaker representing the state’s Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency stated his intention to work with the state government to end insecurity in the state.

Terrorism: four killed, 30 abducted in Zamfara

Residents said four people were killed and more than 30 were abducted in Morai, Talata Mafara Local Government, Zamfara State, after terrorists stormed the town on Monday morning.

Residents reported that the bandits attacked the community around 02:30 a.m. and stayed until 06:15 a.m.

According to a resident, this is the first time gunmen have attacked the town, which is the second largest in the local government area.

Bandits kidnap scores of people in Kaduna

Some bandits were said to have invaded Ungwan Keke in Kaduna State’s New Millennium settlement, Chikun Local Government Area, and abducted scores of residents.

According to sources, the hoodlums abducted no less than 30 residents of the area during the Monday night raid.

The attack comes just three weeks after bandits killed a Civilian Joint Task Force Commander and a resident of the nearby Sabon Gero Community of the new Millenium City in the
same LGA.

Kidnappers free medical practitioner after ransom

A private physician who was kidnapped in Gbede, Surulere Local Government Area, Oyo State, was freed after his captors paid a ransom of N3 million.

The release was confirmed by the local government council’s chairman.

On Wednesday, the police spokesman in Oyo State confirmed the release to reporters in Ibadan, but remained silent on the ransom payment.

Bank Official, Armed Robber Killed In Abia Bullion Van Attack

According to police in Abia State, a bank cash officer and an armed robber were killed in a bullion van attack on Tuesday.

The incident happened at Ntigha junction on the Port Harcourt-Enugu Highway in the state’s Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area at around 1:13 p.m.

The bullion van, escorted by six police officers, was transporting cash from a commercial bank in Aba to Umuahia when it was ambushed by armed robbers.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Umuahia, the state capital.

40-year-old man paraded for impersonation

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has paraded a 40-year-old man for allegedly impersonating a Nigerian Immigration Officer.

According to a statement signed by the Osun State Commandant of NSCDC, the suspect was arrested on Monday in Oke-Abesu, Osogbo, the State capital.

The suspect allegedly disguised himself as a Nigerian Immigration Officer and collected N570,000 from four people with the promise of obtaining visas to Norway and Saudi Arabia, as
well as promising employment to one of the complainants.

In Kaduna, a truck crushes two NDA soldiers to death

On Tuesday in Kaduna, two Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) soldiers were killed when a waste collection truck crushed the motorcycle they were riding.

According to a source, the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in Mando, Afaka area of the state.

According to the source, the soldiers were crushed after falling from their motorcycle after it hit a pothole on the road. The entire incident occurred in a situation in which no one
was able to save their lives.

Katsina: Terrorists kill three, abduct school principal, others

Terrorists killed three people and kidnapped seven others, including a secondary school principal, in the early hours of Tuesday at Yar Tafki and Unguwar Isiyaka villages in Katsina
State’s Funtua Local Government Area.

The assailants abducted the Principal of Government Secondary School, Makera, as well as a 35-year-old nursing mother and her 17-month-old baby from Yar Tafki village and four others
from Unguwar Isiyaka village, including the ward head, according to the report.

In Abuja, Panic as commercial motorcyclists clash with police

The police have confirmed a violent clash between its operatives and commercial motorcycle operators in Abuja’s Durumi District.

The clash comes after the Federal Capital City enforced a motorcycle ban following several meetings with the various heads of motorcycle units across the Territory.

The Nigerian Police Force’s FCT Command activated an enforcement exercise at the various Divisional and Area Commands on Tuesday to ensure proper compliance with the directives.

Two suspects detained over killing of Delta policemen

Delta State Police Command officers have arrested two suspects in connection with the incident that resulted in the death of three police officers in the early hours of Sunday at Okpanam
community in the state’s Oshimili Local Government Area.

This was stated in a signed statement made available to journalists in Warri by the Command’s spokesman on Tuesday.

The statement hinted that the Command is closing in on the other members of the gang, adding that the Delta State Command Commissioner of Police has assured members of the public, particularly
residents of Okpanam community, that they should go about their lawful business(es) without fear.

COVID-19 Safety Measures

  1. Use of non-physical greetings.
  2. Maintain at least 2 meters (6 feet) of physical distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  3. Stay home if you feel unwell with symptoms like fever, NCDC’s 24/7 toll-free number is 0800 970 000 0010. Do not self-medicate.
  4. Persons with a persistent cough or sneezing should stay home until they recover.
  5. Avoid crowded spaces such as open markets, crowded supermarkets and pharmacies.
  6. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or use an alcohol-based sanitiser if no water and soap are available.

On May 26th, 2022, a monkeypox National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) was activated by the government of Nigeria in response to the risk assessment conducted, which put Nigeria at high risk for a Monkeypox outbreak.
