Kidnapping suspects detained in Ekiti: “We use ransom to buy cattle”
Two suspected kidnappers arrested in Ekiti State have admitted to using a portion of their ransom money to buy a herd of cattle.
The Police Public Relations Officer, revealed this in a statement, adding that the notorious kidnap kingpins were known for kidnapping and abducting innocent citizens of the state.
The long arms of the law finally caught up with two kidnap kingpins after a long series of moves. They were arrested in Ido-Ekiti on June 29, 2022. The two individuals had coordinated numerous kidnappings in the state.

Tensions rise as herders seize a portion of the Delta community
No fewer than 300 Fulani indigenes, mostly herders, have taken over a section of Okpanam community, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State, and are gradually transforming the occupied area into a community without the permission of the Okpanam Kingdom’s traditional ruler.
The traditional ruler raised the alarm during a tripartite meeting last week at his palace in Okpanam, attended by indigenes, the chairman of Oshimili North LGA, Mr. Innocent Esewezie, and Fulani leaders, as the community gave the intruders a 15-day ultimatum to leave the area they are occupying.

In Katsina, bandits burn down two health centers and close 69 others
According to the Katsina State Government, bandits destroyed two primary health care facilities in the state’s Batsari Local Government Area.
The Executive Secretary of Katsina State Primary Health Care Development Agency told journalists that 69 of the state’s over 1,800 healthcare centers were also temporarily closed due to insecurity in some local government areas.
The affected primary healthcare facilities are spread across Jibia, Safana, Batsari, Faskari, Sabuwa, and other state frontline LGAs.

In Katsina, gunmen kill a police commander and another officer
The area commander of the Dutsin Ma Police Area command was killed in an ambush on Tuesday morning.
According to a resident of Safana, police officers were alerted by some motorists who saw some bandits on motorcycles heading to Zakka community in Safana Local Government Area. Unbeknownst to the cops, the bandits had split into two. While some of them went into the village, a large number of them were told to stay outside and remove threats.
As a result, the Area Commander and one other gallantly died during the cross-exchange of gunfire.

Kuje prison attack
Despite an earlier warning from the country’s intelligence service, the Kuje Custodial Centre in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory was attacked late Tuesday night, apparently to free jailed criminals.
According to a prison source, the State Security Service had warned of an impending attack on Kuje prison “earlier on Tuesday. The source, however, was unable to describe the extent of the measures put in place to prevent the attack.
The prison is located in the FCT’s Kuje Area Council, about 47 kilometers from the Aso Rock Presidential Villa and 24 kilometers from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

In Kwara, gunmen kill a police officer and kidnap a Chinese national
Some armed men suspected of being kidnappers stormed the CGC construction site along the Shao/Oloru Expressway, shot and killed an Inspector police attached to PMF 15, Ilorin, who was on guard duty at the time, and abducted a Chinese national working on the site before fleeing into the bushes.
Upon receiving the information, the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Police Command, ordered an intense and discrete search, rescue, and arrest operation into the matter, with the deployment of the Command’s Tactical teams, vigilantes, and local hunters into the area for possible rescue and arrest of the perpetrators.

Gallant presidential guards repel an attack on the advance team
The spokesperson for President Muhammadu Buhari, confirmed the shooting on Tuesday.
The attack occurred near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the advance team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah.
The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions, but were repulsed by the convoy’s military, police, and DSS personnel. The persons in the convoy reported being injured.
Katsina is one of the states hardest hit by banditry. Since Mr President, who is from the state, took office, hundreds of people have been killed and thousands have been kidnapped in the state.

Katsina records the first case of monkeypox
The state’s Commissioner for Health confirmed the first case of Monkeypox disease during the distribution of medicare and free medicines to the state’s 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Katsina.
He added that the state has about 15 suspected cases, whose samples have been taken to Abuja, and are awaiting the results.

Terrorists threatened to start killing kidnapped AK 9 train passengers
Terrorists who kidnapped the AK 9 train passengers have threatened to kill the remaining passengers in their custody within 24 hours, claiming that the government has failed to seek their release.
This was stated in an audio clip that went viral on Wednesday and featured the voice of a terrorist threatening to kill the victims if the government didn’t work to secure their release.

Lagos probes boat Captain as 2 die
The Lagos State Government is currently investigating the captain of the ill-fated “R & N 2” boat, which capsized on Wednesday in Ikorodu, Lagos, killing two passengers and rescuing 15 others.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, confirmed the incident and stated that the captain is already in custody to explain what happened.
The boat was reportedly en route to Ipakodo-Lagos Island when it capsized.
