Dear Valued Customers and Partners,
We have been informed that the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) may initiate an indefinitely strike action on March 1, 2022, over alleged non-compliance with Maritime Regulations by International Oil Companies (IOCs). The MWUN strike action could result in the shutdown of Onne Port; hence this may impact our operations. Furthermore, we have been informed that a roadblock by the youths of Eleme Local Government is also scheduled for March 1, 2022, due to the unchanged condition of the East-West road (the only access into Onne from Port Harcourt). As you may record, February 28 was the deadline announced by the Eleme Local Government following their initial 7-days roadblock action last year due to the deplorable state of the East-West road.
WACT encourages all Customers to expedite their import delivery process ahead of March 1, 2022. Our Customer service will be available 24/7 through the end of the month to issue TDOs and support gate deliveries.
