Yao Hongshan, Deputy General Manager of Beihai Shipbuilding said that this cooperation, a historic leap of the shipyard in technology innovation, will significantly enhance Beihai Shipbuilding’s competitiveness in the global ship retrofit market.
Methanol has rapidly become the alternative fuel of choice for container lines over the last year, however, most projects are for new buildings rather than retrofits of existing tonnage.
CMA CGM and Beihai Shipbuilding started collaboration in 2018 for over 40 vessel projects. In 2021, CMA CGM ordered ten 5,500 teu boxships from Beihai Shipbuilding.
