Kidnapped NPC Commissioner Freed After Five Days
- The abducted Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC) Bayelsa State, Gloria Izonfuo, that was kidnapped on Sunday, April 23rd at Ogbakiri junction East-West Road along with her driver and mais was released on Friday, April 28th 2023.
Security Operatives Arrest Three Gunmen In Anambra, Rescue Kidnap Victim
- On 27th of April, 2023, a combined security team in Anambra State’s Aguata Council Area apprehended three members of a kidnapping gang and freed an abductee at Okacha Junction. An Ash Lexus 350 with the registration number EKY – 605GV LAGOS, one black Lexus 350 with the registration number EKY – 605GV LAGOS, two AK-47s with live ammunition, police and army uniforms, two mobile phones, two bulletproof vests, and two walkie-talkies were recovered from the suspects. The arrested culprits admitted to being members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) during interrogation.
Ebonyi Airport Records First Flight Operation
- The newly constructed Ebonyi International Airport, Onueke Ezza South Local Government Area (LGA), had its inaugural flight operation on Thursday 27th April, 2023. The first two pairs of flights landed as a test operation to signify the start of full aviation operations at the airport.
Lagos Man Defiles Six-Year-Old Girl
- On Thursday, April 27th, 2023, an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in the Ogba district, Lagos State remanded 34-year-old John Agbo to the Kirikiri Correctional Facility for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl with his finger in Orile-Iganmu, Lagos State sometime in 2022.
Drug Peddler Jailed For Five Years In Lagos
- On Thursday, April 27th, 2023, the Federal High Court in Lagos State jailed Udogwu Johnson a five-year prison term for the illegal importation of 300 grams of cocaine as charged by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. While reviewing the case details reveal that the defendant initially jumped bail midway through his trial but was revoked on June 6th, 2022.

Court Rejects Alleged Terrorist Negotiator, Tukur Mamu’s Bail Application
- On Thursday, 28th April 2023, a suspected terrorist negotiator, Tukur Mamu, was denied bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja for lack of merit. The defendant failed to offer adequate materials to persuade the court that his motion should be granted. In September 2022, Tukur was arrested by Egyptian security agents in Cairo and charged with terrorism financing by the Federal Government of Nigeria on March 21st, 2023.
EFCC Arrests 19 Akwa Ibom Varsity Students For Alleged Internet Fraud
- On Friday, April 28th, 2023, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) Uyo, arrested nineteen Akwa Ibom State University, Mkpat-Enin, undergraduates in their hostels and hotel rooms in Ikot Akpadem Mkpat-Enin Local Government Area for suspected internet-related offenses. Among the items retrieved were several laptop computers and mobile phones.
Police Neutralize Two Gunmen, Recover AK-47 In Katsina
- After the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Police Command received an information disclosing the hide out of a criminal gang in Tsaunin Kura village Malumfashi LGA on Friday, 28th April 2023, an intelligence operation was carried out, to uncover the suspects’ den and two of the suspected gunmen were ambushed and killed where they were attempting to kidnap a prominent businessman in the area. Two AK-47 rifles were recovered during the operation.
Four To Die For Murder, Teacher Bags Life Jail For rape
- On Friday, 28th April 2023, the Jigawa State High Court sitting at Ringim, presided over by Justice Ahmad Abubakar sentenced four men to death by hanging for being guilty of four counts charges of criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, unlawful assembly and culpable homicide, contrary to sections 100, 342, 97 and 221 of the Penal Code, Cap. 3, Law of Jigawa State, 2014.
Drugs Hidden In Imported Car, Food Items Seized At Lagos Airport, Seaport
- During a joint examination with other stakeholders at the Tincan port in Lagos, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) agents seized 126 parcels of Canadian Loud weighed to be 63Kg. The synthetic strain of cannabis packed in bags in the boot of a used Toyota Corolla which is one of the five used vehicles in a container labeled TLLU4840762 traveling from Toronto via Montreal.

Gunmen Kidnap Two Catholic Priests In Delta
- The Catholic community in Agbaro Otor Area Warri, Delta State, was saddened as two priests, Reverend Father Chochos Kunav and Reverend Father Raphael Ogigba, were kidnapped on Saturday night while returning to Ughelli from Agbaro Otor, where they both went to visit fellow priest on Saturday, April 29th, 2023.
Armed Bandits Kidnap An Unconfirmed Number Of Villagers In Niger.
- Suspected armed bandits allegedly kidnapped an undisclosed number of people, rustled cattle, stole motorcycles, displaced locals by raising their houses with fire and also injured hundreds in Essan, Koitapi, Wuda, and Lapai, among other localities in Niger State’s Paiko Local Government Area, about 1400 hrs after Friday prayer and in the early hours of Saturday, April 29th, 2023. The bandits operations lasted for several hours without being interrupted.
Two Suspects Caught Concealing Cannabis In Sack Of Garri
- On Friday, 28th April, 2023, two suspects were arrested by the agents of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency along the Zaria-Kano route in Kano with 20 blocks of cannabis totaling 11.2kg hidden in a bag of Cassava flakes popularly called garri.

- Students from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) marched to the streets to demonstrate their solidarity for Folarera Ademola, a final-year Economics student killed by Amotekun corps operatives. Robbers Disguise As Engineers, Steal Telecom Mast Batteries
- The Akwa Ibom State Police Command paraded three suspects on Saturday 29th April 2023, for stealing the backup batteries for masts belonging to state-based telecommunications companies while posing as engineers. The Toyota Camry with Reg number KJA 321 FS used in their illicit activities and the stolen six backup batteries were recovered.
17 Anambra Buildings Harboring Gunmen For Demolition
- Seventeen buildings in Uli village, Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State, are suspected of hiding criminals and gunmen known for disturbing the peace of the town has been marked for demolition. Army and police officers have been dispatched to the region on “Operation Action all the way” to commence surveillance and restore order in the four target villages of the community.
40 Killed As Bandits Launch Fresh Attacks In Kebbi And Zamfara
- On Sunday, April 30th, 2023, at least six mobile policemen were among the 36 victims killed by unknown gunmen in Dan Umaru in the Zuru area of Kebbi State. Many others were injured, an unspecified number of people were kidnapped, and hundreds of cattle were rustled in the early hours attack.

- The 64-year-old Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Okey Wali, who was kidnapped on the East-West Road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on April 17 and has been released after 14 days in captivity. He reunited with his family after being released on May 1st, 2023.

- Dr. Akponudiaga Odje, a human rights lawyer located in Warri, Delta State, was abducted at his chamber in Warri main market around 1830 hours on Sunday 30th April 2023 and was freed by his abductors on Monday, 1st May, 2023.

- Four people were slain in a recent attack by unknown gunmen in Akpawfu community Nkanu East Local Government Area, Enugu State. The victims of the heinous act included two citizens, one of which was Chukwuma Nnamuoke, the Palace Secretary of the Ajeme Akpawfu autonomous community.
First Set of Armed Aviation Security Personnel Graduates
