The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria has elected Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), as its National President for the 2025–2027 term. His election marks a new phase for the institute, with expectations for bold reforms in professional logistics and transport management across Nigeria.

The election, conducted fully online, saw one of the highest voter turnouts in the Institute’s recent history. Out of 348 registered members, 314 were accredited, and 301 valid votes were cast. Oyeyemi polled 177 votes, defeating his challenger, Anthony Onoharigho Akpoje, who secured 124 votes.

The results were officially announced by Rakiya Nuhu, Chairperson of the 2025 National Council Election Committee, who declared:

“Accordingly, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, FCILT, is hereby declared the duly elected National President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria for the 2025–2027 term.”

Key Highlights from the Election

While the presidential race was closely contested, all other positions on the National Council were returned unopposed, signaling a unified front among CILT Nigeria members.

  • Deputy National President: Juliana Saka – 284 votes
  • Vice Presidents:
    • North: Sani Mathew – 233 votes
    • East: Dr. Monday Ezechukwu – 234 votes
    • West: Elisha Ebah – 238 votes
  • Mode Representatives:
    • Logistics & Supply Chain: Dr. Ajao Oluseyi
    • Maritime: Salim Bello
    • Pipeline: Dr. William Odemwingie
    • Road: Abdulganiyu Tijani
    • Railway: Dauda Olabayo
    • Aviation: Rosemary Audu – one of the highest votes (273)
  • Diversity and Inclusion Leader: Queen Ajayi – 279 votes

The new council members will be formally inaugurated at the CILT Nigeria Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for October 23, 2025, at the Civic Centre, Lagos.

The plan aligns with CILT International’s strategic goals and supports regional transport initiatives through the West African Road Safety Organisation (WARSO), where Oyeyemi is an influential figure.

A Reformist Track Record

Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi is best known for his transformational leadership at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Under his tenure:

  • FRSC became the first African law enforcement agency to receive ISO 9001:2015 certification.
  • The World Bank recognized FRSC as Africa’s best road safety lead agency.
  • Nigeria expanded its influence in regional traffic safety policy through WARSO.

He holds a PhD in Public Administration, and is a recipient of several national honours:
