Groundbreaking of $3.2 billion Kuala Linggi International Port

The port situated on the Malacca Strait, one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes, will encompass LPG and LNF storage tanks, a shipyard, heavy industry fabrication yard, hard standing cargo handling area, wharfs, and warehousing facilities.

The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by YAB Datuk Seri Utama Ab. Rauf Bin Yusoh, Chief Minister of Malacca on 23 January.

The vision is for KLIP to be a Green Global Industrial Hub for Energy Source, Port and Maritime Services. 

Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr Noormustafa Kamal Yahya, Executive Chairman of KLIP, “The groundbreaking ceremony is a historic milestone for Kuala Linggi International Port—a significant step forward in our mission to become a world-class maritime hub. We are not just building a port; we are constructing a symbol of progress, collaboration, and innovation in the maritime ecosystem that stimulates economic development and creates opportunities for future generations.”

Work on construction of the private port is scheduled to be completed in 2027 and create some 10,000 jobs.
