ATTACK

  • Many terrorists have been killed as a result of aerial attacks by the Nigerian Air Force on terrorist camps in Kaduna State’s three local government areas of Igabi, Chikun, and Birnin-Gwari. According to information provided to the Kaduna State Government, a camp in Riyawa, Igabi LGA, was targeted and destroyed. A terrorist location in Birnin Gwari LGA’s Tofa general area was similarly engaged and struck. This was revealed in a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs on Wednesday.

KIDNAPPING

  • The Nigeria Police Force, Federal Capital Territory Command (FCT), has confirmed the death of one person in an attack on Tuesday night along Arab Road in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. According to reports, one person was killed, and eight people, including a corps member, were abducted by gunmen. According to reports, the gunmen shot two males, one of whom died on the spot while the other was rushed to the hospital. The gunmen were said to have escaped through the hill.
  • Gunmen kidnapped a former Accountant-General in Cross River State. According to reports, the victim and three others were kidnapped on Tuesday at the Ikom-Calabar highway’s Uyanga-Okomita axis. One of the victims was allegedly shot and taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
  • Gunmen in a sports utility vehicle kidnapped two women, including a pharmacist, along Apara Link Road, Mgbuoba, in Rivers State’s Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. According to an eyewitness, the gun-wielding hoodlums entered a nearby pharmacy and dragged their victims into a waiting car. The eyewitness said the second abductee was a woman who took her child to the pharmacy for treatment.s.
  • The Managing Director of Igpes Group Oil and Gas, a company based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, who was kidnapped at the Rumuokoro flyover about 11 days ago, has been released. The gunmen intercepted a Hilux van carrying the victim and some members of staff, shot and killed three policemen escorting them. After isolating the managing director, the criminals forced him into a waiting car, where they sped off to an unidentified location. His release was confirmed on Wednesday by a company source.
  • The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has rescued three kidnap victims and launched an investigation into the Tuesday night security breach in the Kubwa Relocation Estate, off Arab Road in the FCT, which included armed robbery, shootings, and the abduction of some people. The Commissioner of Police stated that the command’s quick response in an aggressive manhunt for the perpetrators resulted in the rescue of three victims and the recovery of firearms and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle and 25 rounds of ammunition.

WEATHER CONDITIONS

  • The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a warning to six northern states (Katsina, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Yobe, and Jigawa) to expect dust haze, which can impair horizontal visibility. According to NiMet, the weather will continue for the next three days, and daytime temperatures (Max) will fall as a result of the dust plume entering the country. As a result, members of the public are advised to take the necessary precautions due to dust particles currently suspended in the atmosphere.

THEFT

  • The Nigerian government, through the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), has established an 11-member Special Investigative Panel to investigate oil theft and losses, particularly in the Niger Delta region. According to the National Security Adviser, Nigeria is currently facing a massive loss of revenue that should have come from the sale of crude oil, which is the country’s main source of foreign exchange earnings. The NSA chief explained that Nigeria had consistently failed to meet the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries’ daily production quota of about two million barrels per day.

HOODLUMS ATTACK

  • A soldier and two Kwara State Fire Service personnel were attacked and injured by hoodlums on Tuesday while carrying out a rescue operation at a charred filling station in Ilorin, the state capital. Soldiers and men from the State Fire Department were dispatched to the Filling Station in Oke Agodi, Ilorin metropolis, to extinguish the raging fire that gutted the facility. However, for unknown reasons, the hoodlums began throwing stones at the soldiers and firemen, the soldiers eventually restored normalcy in the area, and the firemen were also able to put out the fire.

INSECURITY

  • On Tuesday, a French military delegation met with Nigeria’s top military brass to discuss ways to strengthen ties in order to address the challenge of insecurity in the North-east and Lake Chad basin. The meeting was also called to look into ways to strengthen the military establishment. This comes as the National Defence College (NDC) began a one-week course on defense and security management for middle-level officers in the Nigerian Armed Forces on Tuesday.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION

  • According to the federal government, the Second Niger Bridge will open for traffic on December 15. The federal controller of works in Delta made this known on Wednesday. He did, however, state that the bridge would only be open for 30 days. According to him, the Minister of Works and Housing has ordered the bridge, which is 95 percent complete, to be opened to ease traffic during the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.
