NIMASA Gets New Maritime Guard Commander

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has appointed Commodore Reginald Odeodi Adoki as the new Commander of its Maritime Guard Command, following approval from the Chief of the Naval Staff, Idi Abbas.

Commodore Adoki succeeds Commodore H. C. Oriekeze, who has been redeployed, and his appointment signals continued collaboration between NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy to strengthen maritime security and regulatory enforcement across Nigeria’s territorial waters.

Commodore Adoki is a Principal Warfare Officer specializing in communications and intelligence, with 25 years of extensive naval experience. His career highlights include:

  • Commanding several naval platforms, including NNS Andoni, NNS Kyanwa, and NNS Kada
  • Leading NNS Kada on her maiden voyage from the United Arab Emirates to Nigeria
  • Serving in training, staff duties, and operational roles across the Nigerian Navy

He was commissioned into the Nigerian Navy in 2000 and holds:

  • BSc in Mathematics
  • Master’s in International Law and Diplomacy – University of Lagos
  • MSc in Terrorism, Security and Policing – University of Leicester, UK
  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Defence and Security Studies – National Defence Academy
